What is equip.life?

There’s a pattern, a rhythm the world is producing. It’s a kind of war chant on the lips of professors, teachers, peers, employers, and religious leaders. They seek to educate, persuade and convert anyone with a listening ear. The rhythm is beating on the radio through music and talk show hosts. It’s beating in classrooms and workplaces, in dorm rooms and cafeterias, on social media and the internet. Everywhere we turn the world is chanting; “Your life is money, your life is business, your life is pleasure, your life is about you.”

Enter equip.life…

John 17:3 says, “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”

Jesus is life, and equip.life is a month-long, intensive discipleship course focused on building dependence on Him as independence is realized in adulthood.

It’s for single adults between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five and is designed to equip them with the tools they’ll need not just to maintain their current walk with the Lord, but to make it flourish over the course of their lives. Whether a young adult feels called into full-time ministry or believes God is directing them in another direction, equip.life is the perfect opportunity for them to continue their journey with Jesus. Regardless of a young adult’s future plans we know this: the world is going to keep chanting, pop culture Christianity is going to keep pounding their rhythm, and young adults are going to have to choose who they will follow. equip.life is here for one purpose, and that purpose is to set in motion a generation of young adults who will enter universities, colleges, and the work force with the battle cry, “My life is Jesus!”

equip.life challenges the idea that Christians are to separate their “sacred life” from their “secular life” by taking the biblical stance that whether we work in a mechanic’s shop or are the pastor of a church, we are all called to be full-time Christians.

The program will include challenging, interactive class times with subjects focused on developing a Biblical worldview, a vibrant walk with God, and a love for His Word. We will also focus on practical, day-to-day subjects such as “God’s plan for friendship” and “What to do when reason and God’s plan for your life seem to collide” among many others.

Along with academic class time we will also be involved in challenging outreach and service activities. At equip.life we believe the Christian walk is not simply about knowing, but it’s about letting what we know affect what we do. The closer we get to Jesus, the more that should affect our service. We plan to move young adults from simply knowing what they believe to knowing why they believe it. We plan to replace the action of a servant with the heart of a servant.

Our theme verse is John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

What equip.life is not

  • equip.life is not a Bible College

The focus of a Bible College is to train people for full-time ministry, while the focus of equip.life is to train young people for full-time Christianity regardless of their future. Bible Colleges have their place and we believe in what they do, but the fundamental purpose for Bible College is much different from the fundamental purpose for equip.life.

  • equip.life is not a summer camp

The nature of equip.life is more intensive and specific than that of a summer camp. Although certain aspects of the program will feel like camp and certain aspects of it will feel like a form of Bible College, it is unique and not comparable to either.

  • equip.life is not a reform school

Bible Baptist Church is interested in souls being saved, needs being met, and broken lives being reformed, but as a ministry of Bible Baptist Church equip.life has a specific group of people it is focusing on and that group of people includes single young adults from the ages of eighteen to twenty-five who are serious about walking with the Lord and are interested in deepening that relationship.
